Yes,
The Local telephone numbers provided with your OceanTalk account are FREE when you top-up by €20 every month, otherwise they will cost €5.99 (each) per month.
It is uncertain whether numbers offered in the future can be free of charge. These numbers are bought and developed at our cost, and these charges will eventually have to be passed on.
This is not to say that we will charge for them or even plan to (we don't), but we reserve the right to do so in the future.
Telephone numbers are available for different cities and countries from which you can select your preferred number.
Custom or vanity numbers are not currently offered.
Yes, our VoIP service works worldwide. You do not need to live in the city or country your number is from.
Irish customers must be resident in your location e.g. If you live in Dublin you will receive a 01 number, this is due to ComReg requirements. Otherwise, anywhere you have a broadband Internet connection; you can use your OceanTalk account.
We have had mixed feedback from customers on this one. We currently support the T.38 codec which is designed for fax transmission.
Fax machines are finicky and even an imperceptible delay (using another codec) can result in the fax machine stopping transmission.
Some people report success and others not. Therefore we can not guarantee successful fax transmission over our VoIP network, T.38 and G711 Codec support is provided to our customers on a best effort basis only.
OceanTalk offers access to some of these numbers on a best effort basis and therefore can not guarantee connection.
Please Note: These are not considered part of call plan, as they are special numbers, please see our current call rates.
While we will endeavour to pass Emergency call traffic to the relevant emergency services on a best effort basis, OceanTalk can not guarantee a successful connection and therefore can not and will not be held responsible for non connection to any emergency services within any location.
Important: Please be informed of the following limitations of VoIP originated Emergency Calls:
- · VoIP application requires a power source and enabled internet connection to make 999, 911 and 112 calls.
- · When making a VoIP originated Emergency Call you are required to confirm/provide your location to enable
the correct Emergency Organisation to respond.
- The VoIP originated Emergency Call may have to pass over the public internet where it will not receive the
same network priority or quality assurance as an Emergency Call made on a mobile network or on a circuit-switched fixed line.
- · Do not make any test calls to "see if it works"
Currently we are unable to offer number porting within Ireland.
Currently we can only offer this service within the UK, therefore it may be possible to keep your telephone number and move it over to OceanTalk.
To check, if your number can be ported, please contact our support and send the telephone number you would like to move over.
Yes, But this depends on the device you intend to use, please contact us for more information.
No, for safety and data security reasons, OceanTalk will not publish a list of participants or phone numbers.
No, unfortunately it is not possible to publish your number at this time.
Special Toll / Premium rate numbers are not currently supported on the OceanTalk network, this may change in the future.
You may configure your account to block your caller ID when calling to PSTN (normal fixed-line) telephone networks and mobiles. Calls to SIP phones will still show the number.
Currently we pass all Caller ID traffic to its designation network; however we can not guarantee that the Caller ID will be displayed, due to factors beyond our control.
